Days out in Birmingham Summer 2016
Got a whole school holidays to fill? Here are some of our ideas for things to do in and around Birmingham this summer. Please double check details of each event for yourself using the links and have a great summer.
The first list are things happening on specific dates.
Towards the bottom are general ideas of cheap or free places to visit or things to do.
Saturday 24th July
Summer in the South Side 12- 5pm
Based around Birmingham Hippodrome this is a free carnival with lots of different performances.
Sunday 25th July
Grace Church hosts a picnic in the park with free bouncy castle and face painting. 1pm Cotteridge park
Bring your own picnic!

Good Ideas for Any Day
Aston Hall in Aston has lots of family activities going on through the summer.
A family ticket for 4 costs £20 and there may be an additional charge for the activities.
Why not try Arrow Valley in Redditch for a free lakeside walk and pretty good playground or the Lickey Hills or Waseley Hills country parks.
Birmingham Book Bench Trail. Discover the book benches of Birmingham designed by children of Birmingham Schools. Includes trails maps and information on lots of free events across the city
Blakesley Hall in Yardley has lots of family events through the summer including crafts, detective activities and play days.
Cost of a family of 4 ticket is £17.60 and there may be additional costs for the activities.
Bournville Green Discovery Trail. Bournville Village Trust have made The Great Green Discovery Trail around Bournville…! From 27th July there will be boxes hidden around Bournville for you to hunt for and discover. Inside each box is a code and once you find them all you can be entered into an exciting prize draw!
Coventry Transport Museum is a free day out. Lots of great vehicles to see.
Cocks Moor Leisure Centre usually have soft play sessions during the summer holidays
Creative Coffee Hub. A local café with affordable pottery to paint/crafts to do. They also have craft events throughout the summer
Hicks Lodge is a wonderful free place to go for short family bike rides. Can accommodate a range of abilities.
Kingsbury Water Park in Sutton Coldfield will be running events through the summer. Free but £4.50 to use the park.
Lichfield is an easy train ride away and has a fantastic Park and a free museum in the form of Erasmus Darwin’s House
Lunt Roman Fort Why not visit a little known Roman fort just outside Coventry called Lunt. A family ticket is about £12 it opens at 10am
Martineau Gardens. Free gardens which are fun to explore
RAF Cosford Museum is a great aeroplane museum and you can get there by train . Its free entry but if you drive you do need to pay for parking (unless you get the train!)
Worcester is a good day out with the river, town centre and a free Tudor Museum
